Mission and Outreach

The Outreach Commission works to organize the people of St. Martin’s to serve those people who are needy in this community, the diocese, the region, and the world. Many of those who serve on the commission have worked for years, and others are newly involved in working to ease the pain and suffering of people who are hungry, without shelter, dealing with addiction, sick, lonely, living in poverty, in prison, yearning for an education, far from home, and working for peace and justice.

How do we draw nearer to God?

We ...
  • bathe our work in prayer.
  • encourage, support, and uplift one another so that we will not become overwhelmed or discouraged.
  • discern God’s true call to us and the parish.
  • provide opportunities and resources for education and discussion.
  • reach out to diverse individuals and communities.
  • try to take risks and do together what we cannot do alone.
  • raise funds to provide for needs.
  • look for the face of God in those we serve and in one another.
